When we arrived at this service call, we found that one of the two springs on the door had broken.
We always recommend replacing both springs as they both have the same life cycle rating, so when one breaks the other is sure to break very soon as well.
Not realising the spring was broken the customer tried to operate the door. Because the spring was broken this caused enough stress on the opener front idler mounting bracket to dislodge it from the wall. So, we replaced the springs, remounted the operator front idler bracket and did a full tune-up and lubrication service to the garage door and operator.
